Welcome to MatchMetric. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Everythings Fein, LLC ("MatchMetric," "we," "us," or "our"), the operator of the website at https://www.matchmetric.app and the related features, tools, and content (together, the "Service").
Please read these Terms carefully. They include important limitations on our liability, a disclaimer that our ratings are estimates and not official USTA ratings, and restrictions on extracting or reusing our data.
1.1 By accessing or using the Service — whether or not you create an account — you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our privacy practices are described in Section 13 and in our Privacy Policy.
1.2 The Service is operated by Everythings Fein, LLC, located in California, USA. You can reach us at hello@matchmetric.app.
1.3 If you use the Service on behalf of a team, club, or organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf, and "you" includes that organization.
2.1 You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if higher, to create an account, claim a profile, join a team space, or make a purchase. Public, read-only pages may be viewed without an account (see Section 3.1).
2.2 The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us at hello@matchmetric.app and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
2.3 You may only use the Service where doing so is lawful, and you are responsible for complying with any laws that apply to you.
3.1 Browsing without an account. Much of the Service — public player and team pages, ratings, match history, and the public tournament calendar — can be viewed without an account.
3.2 Passwordless sign-in. To claim a profile, join a team space, or use captain or paid features, you sign in using a "magic link." You give us an email address, and we email you a single-use, time-limited link. There is no password. Your email address is your identity on the Service. We do not store passwords. A profile claim made this way is unverified and non-exclusive (see Section 8.5); signing in does not by itself grant access to any team space.
3.3 You are responsible for your email. Anyone with access to your email inbox can use a valid magic link to access your account. You are responsible for keeping your email account secure. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for activity that occurs because your email account was accessed by someone else.
3.4 Accuracy of information. You agree to provide an accurate email address and to keep your account information current. You may not impersonate another person, create an account using someone else's email, or attempt to access an account or profile claim that is not yours.
3.5 No unauthorized access. You may not use the Service to access other users' accounts, claims, or private team-space content without authorization, or to circumvent any access control.
3.6 Electronic communications. By using the Service, you consent to receive communications from us electronically — including magic-link sign-in emails, billing and receipt emails, optional digests, service notices, and legal notices such as changes to these Terms — at the email address associated with your account or that you provide. You agree that electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing. You may withdraw consent to non-essential emails (such as digests) via the unsubscribe link, but essential transactional and legal notices are part of using the Service.
4.1 MatchMetric is an independent analytics tool focused on USTA NorCal adult-league tennis. For each player, we estimate a performance rating from the scores of their real league matches, and we present that estimate together with features such as match history, bump outlooks, head-to-head records, win-probability estimates, and captain tools for lineup planning, availability, and practice. The Service also surfaces a public, metadata-only USTA tournament calendar that is not limited to NorCal and is provided for discovery only. Some features are free; some require a paid Premium subscription; and some captain tools require a team space, which may carry a separate one-time fee (see Section 9).
4.2 Where the underlying data comes from. We compute our ratings from USTA and USTA NorCal league and tournament information that we access from sources we believe to be reachable — including USTA NorCal's public league pages and the public year-end NTRP rating search — together with publicly listed tournament information. We compute our own ratings from match scores. We do not receive any private, official, or licensed data feed from USTA.
4.3 How our ratings are produced. Our ratings are produced by our own proprietary performance-rating model (a Glicko-style computation fitted onto the NTRP scale) and are refreshed on a best-effort basis, typically nightly as new results appear. They are not USTA's official NTRP algorithm and are not produced or approved by USTA.
4.4 Estimates of play, not predictions of outcomes. Win-probability, lineup-optimization, opponent-projection, and chemistry features are statistical estimates calibrated to historical league play. They are not guarantees, and actual match results will vary.
4.5 The Service will change. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time. Paid features may be introduced, changed, or withdrawn, and may not be available at all times.
5.1 The ratings shown on MatchMetric are estimates. They are not official USTA NTRP ratings. USTA is the sole source of your official NTRP rating.
5.2 Estimated ratings, bump outlooks, and projections may be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or based on source data that itself contains errors. Match data is drawn from public USTA sources, which we do not control and which we do not warrant.
5.3 Do not rely on the Service for any official or consequential decision. This includes, without limitation, league eligibility, self-rating, team standing, championship qualification, disqualification questions, or any other decision that calls for an official USTA rating. Before taking any official action, verify with USTA, USTA NorCal, or your league. You assume all risk of any reliance on the Service.
5.4 The Service is provided for personal, informational, and recreational use only.
5.5 No reliance on data provenance or legality. You may not rely on the Service as a representation that the underlying data is official, sanctioned, licensed, complete, or lawfully reusable by you. We make no representation or warranty regarding the legality, licensing status, completeness, or accuracy of the underlying USTA or other third-party data, or regarding your right to use, extract, or redistribute it for any particular purpose. Any further use, extraction, or redistribution of data obtained through the Service is at your own risk and your own responsibility under applicable third-party terms and law.
6.1 MatchMetric is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by the United States Tennis Association (USTA), USTA NorCal, TennisLink, or any other tennis governing body, section, or league.
6.2 "USTA," "NTRP," "TennisLink," and other names, logos, and trademarks referenced on the Service are the property of their respective owners. We use them only to describe the data we work with and the players and leagues our users care about. No affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship is claimed or implied.
6.3 USTA's published guidance states that USTA is the only source of true NTRP ratings and that third-party ratings sites are not endorsed by, or guaranteed accurate by, USTA. We agree: our ratings are our own estimates, and USTA's official ratings are authoritative.
6.4 References only; not incorporated. Any references or links to USTA's policies (such as its Terms of Use or third-party-sites guidance) are provided for context only. Those documents are USTA's, not ours; they are not incorporated into these Terms, and we do not adopt or warrant them. They may change without notice.
You agree that you will not, and will not help or permit anyone else to:
7.1 Scrape, crawl, harvest, bulk-download, or use any robot, spider, script, automated means, or systematic manual collection to extract data from the Service, except as we expressly permit in writing;
7.2 Resell, redistribute, republish, sublicense, or otherwise make the Service's data or content available to others; use it for any competitive or commercial purpose; or systematically collect, aggregate, store, or re-derive ratings, scores, standings, or player records from the Service (whether by automated means or manual collection) to build, seed, improve, or train any dataset, model, rating, ranking, standings service, or competing product;
7.3 Use the Service or its data in any way that would breach any third party's terms of use, or use MatchMetric to circumvent any third party's access controls or restrictions;
7.4 Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code, models, or underlying algorithms of the Service, except to the limited extent that applicable law prohibits this restriction;
7.5 Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service; bypass or attempt to bypass authentication, magic-link tokens, rate limits, or access controls; or access any account, profile claim, team space, or data you are not authorized to access;
7.6 Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure, including by overloading, flooding, or sending malware or harmful code;
7.7 Harass, threaten, defame, stalk, or otherwise harm other users; post unlawful, infringing, or abusive content; or use the Service to violate anyone's privacy;
7.8 Misrepresent your identity, falsely claim another person's player profile, or use the Service for fraud; or
7.9 Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or these Terms.
We may investigate and respond to suspected violations, including by removing content, limiting access, or suspending or terminating accounts.
8.1 What you provide. The Service lets you create and submit content, including: your self-asserted player-profile claim, season goals, team availability, saved lineups, partner-options and practice data, suggestions and feedback, and similar inputs ("User Content").
8.2 Ownership. As between you and us, you keep whatever ownership rights you have in your User Content. We do not claim ownership of it.
8.3 License to us. You grant MatchMetric a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, process, and analyze your User Content, and to create aggregated or de-identified statistics from it, in each case for the purpose of operating, securing, improving, and providing the Service. This license lasts as long as we retain the content for those purposes and ends when the content is deleted from our active systems, except for aggregated or de-identified data that no longer identifies you and for backups or records we are required or reasonably need to keep.
8.4 Your responsibility. You are responsible for your User Content and represent that you have the rights necessary to submit it and that it does not violate these Terms or any law or third-party right.
8.5 Profile claims are self-asserted. Claiming a player profile is done by email and is not verified by us. A claim proves only control of an email address; it is non-exclusive, does not grant access to any team space, does not transfer ownership of any underlying public records, and may be reviewed, reassigned, or removed if it appears inaccurate or abusive. The player names, teams, results, and published levels shown in profiles come from public USTA league sources, not from the claimant.
8.6 Feedback. If you send us suggestions or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use them without restriction or obligation to you.
8.7 No obligation to retain. We may, but are not obligated to, store or back up your User Content, and we may remove content that violates these Terms.
The core Service — browsing public player and team data — is free. We offer optional paid features. Paid features are processed through Stripe and may be unavailable at times (including before they are fully turned on, or while configuration changes are in progress).
9.1 Premium subscription (scouting). Premium is a recurring subscription that unlocks scouting features (such as flight scout reports and team scout tools). It is offered on a monthly or annual basis at the prices shown at checkout. The Premium subscription is separate from team-space access described in Section 9.2.
9.2 Team-space purchase (one-time). Captain tools (such as the lineup optimizer, availability, and practice planner) are gated by team-space membership, which is distinct from the Premium subscription. Creating a team space may require a one-time fee, sold individually or in bulk "space credit" packs at the prices shown at checkout. Each credit lets you create one team space. A credit is consumed when a space is created. Only the person who creates a team space pays; invited members join for free. During a promotional window, team-space creation may be temporarily free; any such promotion is offered at our discretion and may be changed or ended at any time.
9.3 Payment processor — Stripe. All payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor, through its hosted checkout. We do not receive or store your full card number or other sensitive payment details. Your payment is also governed by Stripe's terms and privacy policy (see https://stripe.com/legal/ssa and https://stripe.com/privacy). You authorize us and Stripe to charge your selected payment method for the amounts and on the schedule shown at checkout.
9.4 Auto-renewal (subscriptions). Your Premium subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period (each month for a monthly plan, or each year for an annual plan) at the then-current price, and your payment method is automatically charged for the renewal, until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize these recurring charges. The renewal terms are presented to you at checkout, and we send a confirmation by email.
9.5 How to cancel. You can cancel your Premium subscription at any time through Stripe's billing portal, which you can reach from the upgrade or account area of the Service. Cancellation stops future renewals. It takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep Premium access until then. Cancelling does not automatically delete your MatchMetric account, and closing your MatchMetric account does not automatically cancel a Stripe subscription — you must cancel the subscription through the billing portal.
9.6 Refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial subscription periods, one-time team-space purchases after a space is created, or unused features. We may, at our sole discretion, offer a refund in individual cases (for example, an accidental duplicate charge). Refunds, when offered, are processed through Stripe.
9.7 Price changes. We may change prices and the features included in any paid tier. For an active subscription, we will give you at least 30 days notice of a price increase by email or in the Service, and the new price will apply to the next billing period after the notice. If you do not agree, you may cancel before the change takes effect.
9.8 Taxes. Prices shown are exclusive of taxes unless stated otherwise. You are responsible for any sales, use, VAT, GST, or similar taxes associated with your purchase, except for taxes on our net income. Taxes may be calculated and collected at checkout depending on your location.
9.9 Failed or unpaid charges. If a charge fails or your account becomes past due, we or Stripe may retry the charge, and we may suspend or downgrade paid features until payment succeeds.
9.10 Suspension for cause. We may suspend or terminate paid features if we reasonably believe there is fraud, a chargeback, abuse, or a violation of these Terms.
10.1 Our rights. The Service's software, source code, models, design, layout, original text and graphics, the "MatchMetric" name, and our original compilation, selection, and arrangement of content (to the extent such original expression is protectable) are owned by MatchMetric or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We do not claim ownership of any individual rating value, score, ranking, name, published level, or other fact, all of which derive from public USTA sources whose rights remain with their owners (Section 10.3). Except for the limited rights these Terms give you, we reserve all rights in our original expression.
10.2 Your limited license. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use. This license does not permit any extraction, aggregation, re-derivation, redistribution, or competitive or commercial use of the Service's data (see Section 7).
10.3 Underlying public data. Individual facts — such as scores, names, and published levels — are drawn from public USTA sources, and we do not claim ownership of USTA's data, USTA's official ratings, or any USTA marks. Rights in that underlying data and in those marks remain with their owners. Your use of any such data through the Service must be personal and non-commercial and consistent with the owners' terms.
10.4 Feedback. Section 8.6 governs feedback you send us.
11.1 The Service relies on and may link to third-party services and sources, including Stripe (payments), our email provider for magic links, our hosting, error-tracking, and analytics providers, and publicly available USTA, USTA NorCal, TennisLink, and ClubSpark information.
11.2 We do not control third-party services or sources and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, legality, or practices. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that party's own terms and privacy policy. We do not warrant the accuracy, availability, legality, or reusability of any USTA or other third-party data, and we are not liable for harm arising from it.
12.1 We respect intellectual-property rights and respond to clear notices of alleged infringement. The Service both hosts User Content and displays factual data drawn from public sources.
12.2 Notice of alleged infringement. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a written notice to us at hello@matchmetric.app that includes, consistent with 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3): (a) your physical or electronic signature; (b) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; (c) identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it; (d) your contact information; (e) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law; and (f) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act on the rights holder's behalf.
12.3 Counter-notice. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).
12.4 Repeat infringers. We may, in appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, disable or terminate the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
12.5 Where to send notices. Send any copyright notice or counter-notice to us by email at hello@matchmetric.app.
12.6 Rights-holder and data concerns. If you are a rights holder or data source (including USTA) with a concern about data displayed on the Service, contact us at hello@matchmetric.app and we will review it.
13.1 We collect only limited personal information — principally the email address you provide to sign in, your optional self-asserted profile claim, optional season goal, your digest preference, and the User Content you create. We do not store passwords or full card numbers. We may use privacy-light, configurable analytics and error-tracking tools to operate and improve the Service.
13.2 The player information shown on public pages (names, teams, results, published levels) is information already made publicly searchable through USTA league and tournament play. We are not the official custodian of that data; your league and USTA are.
13.3 Removal requests. If you would like your public profile hidden or removed, or if you have a question about your data, email hello@matchmetric.app and we will address it consistent with applicable law. We will also delete your account data on request, subject to records we are required or reasonably need to keep.
13.4 Our Privacy Policy further describes what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
14.1 By you. You may stop using the Service at any time. You can request account deletion by emailing hello@matchmetric.app. Remember that deleting your account does not cancel a Stripe subscription — cancel that separately (Section 9.5).
14.2 By us. We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, to protect the Service or other users, to comply with law, or if we discontinue the Service or a feature.
14.3 Effect of termination. On termination, your license to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive — including Sections 5, 6, 8.3, 8.6, 9.6, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 20 — survive termination.
15.1 THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ALL RATINGS, ESTIMATES, PROJECTIONS, AND DATA, IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY.
15.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage.
15.3 We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; that ratings or updates will be accurate, complete, or refreshed on any schedule; that defects will be corrected; or that any data sourced from USTA or other third parties is accurate, available, legal, or reusable. Rating computation and nightly refreshes are best-effort, and missed or delayed updates may occur. We do not warrant that any data source will remain available, accessible, or permitted for our use; we may lose access to, or be required to remove, any data, rating, or feature for legal, contractual, or technical reasons at any time without liability.
15.4 No advice or information you obtain from the Service creates any warranty not expressly stated here. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
16.1 TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MATCHMETRIC AND ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS, AND CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOST PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
16.2 This includes, without limitation, any loss or harm arising from reliance on estimated ratings, bump outlooks, win probabilities, lineup or opponent projections, or any decision affecting league eligibility, standing, or play; from inaccuracies in, or the unavailability or removal of, third-party (including USTA) data; or from interruptions or unavailability of the Service.
16.3 OUR TOTAL LIABILITY for all claims relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 100.
16.4 Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MatchMetric and its owners, operators, and contributors from and against any third-party claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms or any law; (d) your violation of any third party's rights, including any third party's terms of use; or (e) your collection, extraction, aggregation, redistribution, or commercial or competitive use of any data obtained through the Service, including any resulting claim by USTA or any other data source or rights holder. We may assume the exclusive defense of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with us.
18.1 Governing law. These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
18.2 Venue. You and we agree that the state and federal courts located in Contra Costa County, California, USA will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
18.3 Informal resolution first. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at hello@matchmetric.app and try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
18.4 Court resolution. Subject to Section 18.3, any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the courts identified in Section 18.2.
19.1 We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give reasonable notice — for example, by email (if we have your address) or by a notice in the Service.
19.2 Changes take effect when posted, or on the later date we specify. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and, if applicable, cancel any subscription.
20.1 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the privacy information referenced in Section 13 and any terms presented at checkout, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and supersede any prior agreements on that subject.
20.2 Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the remaining provisions stay in effect.
20.3 No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
20.4 Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms, for example in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
20.5 Force majeure. We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages of third-party services, denial-of-service attacks, changes in third-party data availability, acts of government, or natural events.
20.6 No agency. These Terms do not create any partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship between you and us.
20.7 Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
20.8 Notices. We may send notices to the email associated with your account; you may send notices to us at hello@matchmetric.app.
