Predictions, Not Promises

Our ratings and match predictions are generated by our carefully developed, data-driven algorithm using historical match results and rating estimates. These ratings are independent of and are not intended to represent official USTA ratings. They are predictive estimates—not guarantees—and should be viewed as informational tools only. As with any predictive model, results may vary and should not be relied upon as definitive assessments of player ability or match outcomes.

Understanding the Limits of the Model

• The intangibles. The model cannot account for every factor that influences a match. It doesn't know the impact of a difficult playing style, a longstanding rivalry, weather conditions, an undisclosed injury, fatigue, nerves, or the opponent who always seems to bring out your worst tennis.
• Matchups matter. Match predictions are based on numerical performance ratings and historical results, not on specific playing styles or head-to-head dynamics. While ratings can provide valuable insight, they cannot fully capture how two particular players may match up against one another.
• Players aren't static. Performance naturally fluctuates from match to match. Players can perform above or below their typical level on any given day due to a variety of factors, and no algorithm can fully account for those variations.
• Lineup projections are educated guesses. Team lineups are projected using historical lineup patterns and publicly available match data. They cannot account for last-minute substitutions, injuries, scheduling conflicts, player availability, strategic captain decisions, or other factors that often influence who actually takes the court. When using Co-Captain, you acknowledge that lineup decisions should be based on a variety of considerations, including player availability, health, team chemistry, court assignments, competitive strategy, and captain judgment. MatchMetric's Co-Captain tool is intended to serve as one source of information among many and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for lineup or match decisions.

Using MatchMetric Responsibly

For informational purposes only. MatchMetric's ratings, predictions, projections, and recommendations are designed to provide insight and support decision-making. They should not be considered guarantees of future performance or outcomes.

Not for betting or gambling. MatchMetric is not intended for use in connection with betting, wagering, gambling, or any activity where financial decisions are based on predicted outcomes.

Use judgment alongside the data. Ratings and predictions are just one piece of the puzzle. Important decisions—whether related to match strategy, lineups, scheduling, travel, or participation—should consider the many factors that no model can fully capture.

Probabilities are not certainties. A high win probability indicates a favorable outcome based on the available data, not a guaranteed result. Upsets happen, players have great days and bad days, and tennis remains unpredictable.

You remain responsible for your decisions. You are solely responsible for any decisions or actions taken based on information provided by MatchMetric. MatchMetric and its owners, operators, and affiliates are not responsible for any losses, costs, damages, missed opportunities, or other consequences resulting from the use of—or reliance upon—any ratings, predictions, projections, recommendations, or other information provided by the platform.

Think of MatchMetric as a data-informed scouting report: a valuable source of insight that can help inform decisions, but one that works best when combined with experience, context, and sound judgment.

Beta: Help Us Improve MatchMetric

MatchMetric is an evolving platform. Features may change, ratings and predictions may be recalculated as our models improve, and occasional bugs or inaccuracies should be expected during the beta period.

As a beta participant, we ask you to provide constructive, actionable feedback that helps improve MatchMetric for the broader league tennis community. (See the beta guide) Feedback is most valuable when it focuses on the platform's accuracy, usability, and overall effectiveness rather than individual ratings, predictions, or outcomes.

We welcome feedback, bug reports, and suggestions from our users. If something doesn't look right or isn't working as expected, please let us know. Your feedback plays an important role in helping us improve the platform and make MatchMetric a valuable tool for everyone.

MatchMetric is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the USTA.

Our ratings, predictions, and projections are generated using publicly available league and match results. While we strive to keep data current, delays, omissions, and inaccuracies may occasionally occur.

By using MatchMetric, you acknowledge that all ratings, predictions, projections, and recommendations are provided "as is" without any warranty or guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.
