Everything here is an estimate
Our ratings and match predictions come from our own algorithm, run over historical win/loss results — results that are themselves scored against historical rating estimates. They are not official USTA ratings, they are not measurements, and they will sometimes be wrong. That's the nature of the thing, beta or not.
What the numbers don't know
- Match predictions don't model matchups. A win probability is built from two ratings; it doesn't know about the lefty serve, the moonballer who ruins your rhythm, or that you've never beaten this particular opponent in your life.
- Players vary day to day. It is completely normal for someone to play half a level above or below their number on any given day. One number cannot capture that.
- Lineup projections are history, not knowledge. Opponent lineups are projected from how a team has historically fielded its players. They don't account for who's actually available that day, injuries, or a captain's whims — which is to say, most of what actually decides a lineup.
What you agree not to do
- No betting. Don't use our ratings, predictions, or projections for betting, wagering, or any form of gambling — period.
- No consequential decisions. Don't book or rearrange travel, forfeit a match, or make any decision that matters based on a prediction. A 78% win probability loses about one time in four — it's not a guarantee.
Treat everything here the way you'd treat a scouting report from a sharp teammate: genuinely useful, worth reading, and absolutely not a guarantee.
Beta means beta
Features will change, numbers will get recalculated as our model improves, and occasionally something will break. When a number looks wrong to you, tell us — hello@matchmetric.app or the in-app suggestion box. That feedback is the whole point (see the beta guide).
The rest of the fine print
This agreement supplements the Terms of Service, which apply in full — including the sections on estimated ratings, acceptable use, and disclaimers of warranties. MatchMetric is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the USTA. Data comes from public league results, updated nightly.
